Your “home away from home” awaits you at The Cavalier By the Sea. We have comfortable rooms with twin, full and queen beds, cable TV, microwaves and refrigerators. We also have oceanfront kitchenettes and courtside, two and three bedroom cottages including living room, kitchen, and bath completely furnished for light housekeeping. Our hotel is located on the “ocean side” of Virginia Dare Trail (Hwy. 12) at the 8.5 milepost, diagonally across from Wright Memorial Monument and opposite the Secret Island Restaurant. This location is in the center of the northern Outer Banks and is a convenient place to make your headquarters while taking short trips to other points of interest in the area, such as Roanoke Island, Hatteras and Ocracoke. It is readily accessible to golf courses, fishing piers, deep sea, sound and inlet fishing centers, shopping, and recreational areas. We are open all year.
The Cavalier offers a family atmosphere. For your enjoyment we have a large swimming pool for adults, a small one for the kiddies, and a large play area equipped with swings, pirate ship, shuffleboard, and cornhole, as well as a volleyball net on the beach. You will be right on the ocean and have only a few feet to walk to enjoy it to your heart’s content whether it be swimming, wading, sun bathing or surfcasting. Or if you prefer not to walk at all, enjoy watching the ocean from your front porch in our very popular ocean front rooms which, unlike most “ocean front” rooms, sit right on the beach with no dunes to block the view.

LEAVE KEY AT OFFICE AT CHECK-OUT - NOT IN ROOM (Use drop box only when office is closed). Please open drapes or blinds for housekeeping services and when checking out to inform housekeeping of your departure.

Positively NO COOKING in rooms except in the microwave or if the room is equipped with a stove.
FRONT DESK
Front Desk hours are from 8:00 AM to 10:00 PM. In emergencies only, you may contact the security personnel in the living quarters behind the Front Office during non-office hours. Our office is closed for rentals and other business from sunset Friday to sunset Saturday. A guest service provider is on duty from 8:00 AM - 10:00 PM Friday and Saturday to assist you with anything you may need.
GUEST BEHAVIOR
Please Note: Loud noise after 10:00 PM, drunkenness, loud partying, foul language and reckless driving on the court is NOT tolerated. These disturbances should be reported to the office promptly or, if after 10:00 PM, to the local police dispatcher [(252) 473-3444] or to the security personnel in the living quarters behind the Front Office. Guests who persist in creating a disturbance after one warning are subject to eviction without refund.
GUEST CONCERNS
We strive to ensure the satisfaction of every guest. We are best able to do that when we are informed of complaints in a timely manner so that we can correct them as soon as possible. Concerns expressed at the end of stay when it is too late for us to resolve the problem will be considered to be informational. We will respond to them to ensure other guests are not affected. Guests who feel they should be compensated in some way for a perceived problem must make their views known prior to check-out time and must first have given us an opportunity to correct any problems they encountered. Guests known to be making false claims or accusations in an effort to garner refunds or discounts are subject to state laws relative to the defrauding of innkeepers.
HOUSEKEEPING SERVICE
For the health and safety of our guests and housekeepers, housekeeping services during your stay will be by request only. During your stay, please place your dirty linens, towels, and trash bags in the chairs outside your room for pickup and replacement as needed. Rooms with Do Not Disturb signs after 11 A.M. will not be serviced that day. Extra towels & supplies will be provided for you on Friday as no regular housekeeping services are provided on Saturdays.
ICE MACHINE
There is an ice machine located between units No. 30 and 31 and a second in the oceanfront breezeway. Complimentary coffee is available at the office in the morning. Drink and snack machines are located at the Front Office in the breezeway.
IMPORTANT
This property is privately owned and the manager reserves the right to refuse service to anyone and will not be responsible for accidents or injury to guests or loss of money, jewelry or valuables of any kind.
LAUNDRY
A coin laundry is located on Meadow Lark Street behind the Kill Devil Hills Post Office.
PETS
NO PETS OF ANY KIND ALLOWED IN ROOMS. If this policy is violated, a fee will be applied to your account and you will be asked to leave. DO NOT LEAVE DOGS UNATTENDED FOR EXTENDED PERIODS OF TIME in cottages. We strongly encourage you to keep your pets in crates when unattended. You are responsible for all damages done to carpets, furniture, blinds, etc. You must clean up after your pets. Please don’t leave “surprises” on the lawn for other guests to step in! $150 cleaning fee will be charged for excessive mess, dirt, and pet hair left behind.
PORCH FURNITURE
PLEASE DO NOT take Cavalier porch chairs to the beach.
PROPERTY CLEANLINESS
Please assist us in keeping our grounds clean. It is especially frustrating for our staff to clean up after pet owners and smokers. Please extinguish and discard your cigarette butts safely and avoid littering grounds and the beach with them. SMOKING IS STRICTLY PROHIBITED ON THE OBSERVATION DECK. We also ask that smokers be courteous to other guests by refraining from smoking on all shared porches (poolside rooms, oceanfront, and economy rooms).

PLEASE DO NOT take Cavalier blankets or spreads out of the room.
SWIMMING POOLS
Swimming pools are open seasonally (April - October) weather permitting. Hours are from 9:00 AM to 11:00 PM. The pools are monitored daily for chemical balance and are subject to being closed at any time to ensure guest safety. We cannot extend discounts due to pool closure; it is sometimes necessary and cannot always be predicted. No glass or smoking in the pool area. No lifeguard on duty. Pool is for guests only.

Local calls are free. No access charges for toll-free numbers. Long-distance calls can be made only by charging to your credit card by calling the operator. (press 9 and then 0) Wake up Calls: Our phone system does not offer this service, but you are welcome to pick up an alarm clock at the Front Office (subject to availability).
VEHICLES
All vehicles (including visitors) must be registered at the Front Desk. Unregistered vehicles are subject to towing. Skateboards, skates, rollerblades, etc. are not to be used on the property.
