Winter Safety Tips

1. Please be sure that your parking pass (given to you at registration) is visible and on the dashboard of your car at all times. Please also be sure that any other vehicles in your party have a pass. You may be contacted and asked to move your car to a different parking space in order for Tahoe Village to effectively plow our parking lot.

2. If your car is not equipped with four wheel drive, you may need to purchase tire chains in order to drive your car. It is best to call a taxi* to take you to the nearest facility that will have chains for you and come up to the resort and install them for a fee. (Tire chains are not available for rent in the Tahoe Basin, they must be purchased). Be sure that you write down your tire size before leaving to purchase your chains or calling the tow company.

Note: It is best to be prepared before you need chains. Watch the local news and/or the Weather Channel for upcoming winter storms.

3. Tahoe Summit Village employees may not install or assist with installing tire chains. If you need assistance, please call the Automobile Club* or our local towing company.

4. It is advisable that you not set your parking brake overnight as the cables may freeze. Cars with a manual transmission should be left in gear and cars with an automatic transmission should be left in “park”.

5. Be sure to check road conditions* before leaving Tahoe Summit Village as some or all roads may have chain requirements.

6. Tahoe Summit Village, the Tahoe Village and its contractors are not responsible for damage to any vehicle which is not marked or exposed to view during snow removal.
